Bus Service Adjustments to West Vail Begin Oct. 9 as Vail I-70 Underpass Readies for Official Opening Oct. 13

  • 8 October 2017

Bus ScheduleTown of Vail bus routes servicing the West Vail area will return to their regular schedules beginning Monday, Oct. 9 in preparation for the Friday, Oct. 13 opening of the new Vail I-70 Underpass following a public ribbon cutting ceremony.

The West Vail Green route will be reactivated with frequency every 40 minutes while the West Vail Red route also will return to its pre-construction frequency of every 40 minutes. The modified routes have been in place since July 5, 2016 to accommodate one-way detours on the frontage roads.

During the winter season, a West Vail express bus will incorporate use of the underpass for added efficiency.

The modified fall schedule will also continue service expansions on the East Vail, Golf Course and Sandstone routes following a successful summer pilot program that surpassed the town’s ridership goals.

The fall schedule will run Oct. 9 through Dec. 10 as follows:

  • West Vail Green loop will depart from the Transportation Center every 40
minutes from 6 a.m. to midnight with an additional bus at 2 a.m. if requested.
  • The West Vail Red loop will depart from the Transportation Center every 40 minutes from 6:20 a.m. to 12:20 a.m. with an additional bus at 2 a.m. if requested.

  • The Sandstone loop will depart from the Transportation Center every hour from 6:40 a.m. to 7:40 p.m. daily.
  • The Golf Course route will depart from the Transportation Center hourly from 8:10 a.m. to 5:10 p.m. daily with 30-minute transition service in the morning and less than two hour transition service in the evening. Two-hour service is provided after 6:40 p.m.

  • Note: Lionsridge Loop and Ford Park routes will coincide with the start of paid parking and the opening of Vail Mountain’s 2017-2018 ski and snowboard season which is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 17.

Watch for additional announcements this week regarding the Oct. 13 public ribbon cutting ceremony for the new underpass.
