Choose from a variety of parking options that best meet your needs.

Paid parking in the Vail Village and Lionshead parking structures will coincide with the start of Vail Mountain’s 2016-17 ski and snowboard season which is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 25.

Winter 2016/2017 Parking Structure Rates

The daily rates for close-in structured parking in Vail Village and Lionshead are:

Season Parking Passes

Town of Vail Parking Passes

Paid parking begins at 6 a.m. Nov. 18 in the Vail Village and Lionshead parking structures. Also on Nov. 18, satellite lots at Ford Park and the soccer field east of Golden Peak will become permit parking for employees.

Season parking passes will be ready for purchase beginning at 8 a.m. Monday Oct. 31 on the lower level of the Municipal Building, 75 S. Frontage Rd. There are five discount pass types available, plus an incremental rate structure for value cards. The town’s parking pass sales office will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday through Friday throughout the season.

 

 

2016-17 Season Town of Vail Parking Passes

 

Pink Pass, $150

For employees of eligible Vail business license holders, good for parking at gated lots at Ford Park and soccer field, 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily. Available to Vail Village or Lionshead-based Vail business license holders’ employees working a minimum of 30 hours per week. Proof of employment is required. Parking spaces are serviced by the existing transportation system. Note: Beginning Feb. 21 through March 10, the soccer field lot will be closed for parking.




Green Pass, $500

For employees of eligible Vail business license holders, good for parking in the Lionshead structure Monday through Thursday with the exception of the restricted days of Dec. 23-Jan.3; Jan. 16 and Feb. 20. Also good for access to Ford Park and soccer field lots from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily. Available to Vail Village or Lionshead-based Vail business license holders’ employees working a minimum of 30 hours per week. Proof of employment is required. Note: Beginning Feb. 21 through March 10, the soccer field lot will be closed for parking.




Blue Pass, $1,100

For Vail property owners, residents and employees of qualifying Vail business license holders, good for parking in the two structures with restrictions. Good 7 days a week at Lionshead structure and Monday through Thursday at Vail Village structure with the exception of the restricted days of Dec. 23-Jan. 3; Jan. 16 and Feb. 20. Available to Vail Village or Lionshead-based Vail business license holders’ employees working a minimum of 30 hours per week. Proof of employment is required. Proof of residency or proof of property ownership is needed for residents or property owners.




Silver Pass, $1,800

Available to qualifying business license holders in Vail Village and Lionshead with guaranteed parking in one structure. Limit one pass per business. This pass must be purchased using the credit card or checking account of the business.




Gold Pass, $3,250

For guaranteed parking in the two structures. No eligibility requirements.




Vanpool Pass

Any employee vanpool (vans with seven or more passengers) registered with the town can get either a $150 Pink Pass or receive discounted guaranteed space. Call 479-2349 for details.

Value Cards

 

Town of Vail Value Cards

The incremental rate structure for value card holders calculates the locals discount based on a percentage of the drive-up rate.

Qualifying Vail and Eagle County card holders receive 50 percent and 40 percent discounts, respectively, during non-peak, and 20 percent and 12 percent discounts, respectively, during peak. The peak periods include Dec. 23-Jan. 3 and Jan. 16 and Feb. 20. The pricing schedule is as follows:

Good for employees of qualifying Eagle County businesses, residents and property owners.

Previous value card holders are required to recertify their cards for the new season by stopping by the parking sales office in the Vail Municipal Building to show proof of employment, residency or property ownership.

In addition to the discounted parking pass and value card options, the town will continue to provide free entry after 3 p.m. in the two parking structures. Also, parking will be free for the first two hours in the garages upon entry at any time.

Hourly drive-up rates will be $15 for 2 to 3 hours; $20 for 3 to 4 hours; and a $25 all day cap for 4 to 24 hours. There will also be a $25 charge for RVs and other over-size vehicles using the Charter Bus Lot east of the Lionshead parking structure. Charter bus parking will remain free. 

As an additional option, the town will offer free parking in satellite areas serviced by the town’s free transit system. The inventory includes the following locations available seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.: Gore Creek Trailhead, East Vail Interchange Trailhead, Pitkin Creek Trailhead, Booth Falls Trailhead, Spraddle Creek Trailhead, Red Sandstone Creek Trailhead, Buffehr Creek Trailhead, Davos Trailhead and Red Sandstone Park. Parking availability is limited and some spaces are restricted to three-hour trailhead use.

Free parking will also be available at Donovan Park with 90 spaces on days when the pavilion isn’t in use. A sign will be used at the park’s entrance to indicate availability each day. Parking availability for Donovan Park will be updated regularly on vaileventparking.com.

In addition, first-come, first-served free skier parking, 70 spaces, will be available on the North Frontage Road across from the West Vail Mall seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Additional free skier parking, 100 spaces, will be available on the North Frontage Road west of the West Vail roundabout on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Free emergency parking along the South Frontage Road will again be activated in overflow parking situations this season. Six temporary bus stops will be in use along the Frontage Road for added convenience. New this year will be wider, paved shoulders along the South Frontage Road from the Vail Municipal Building to the Vail Resorts maintenance shop to improve safety and the guest experience.

All areas listed below are serviced by the existing Town of Vail transportation system. Bus frequency varies from 15 minutes during peak times to 1 hour during non-peak times.

  • Red Sandstone Park, 725 N. Frontage Road, 15 spaces. Available 7 days a week
  • North Frontage Road in West Vail, across from West Vail Mall, 50 spaces. Available 7 days a week. For directions, call 970-479-2104.
  • North Frontage Road in West Vail, west of west Vail roundabout, 100 spaces. Available Fri., Sat. and Sun. only.
  • Donovan Park, 1600 S. Frontage Road, 90 spaces. Available when pavilion is not in use (see signage at entrance for availability or visit www.vaileventparking.com). This parking area is serviced by the Matterhorn bus stop, which is located west of the park at the intersection of Matterhorn Circle and West Gore Creek Drive.

Additional trailhead parking available daily at: Gore Creek Trailhead, East Vail Interchange Trailhead, Pitkin Creek Trailhead, Booth Falls Trailhead, North Trail Spraddle Creek Trailhead, North Trail Red Sandstone Creek Trailhead, North Trail Buffehr Creek Trailhead and North Trail Davos Trailhead. Parking availability at trailhead is limited and some spaces are restricted to three-hour trailhead use.

 

Frontage Road Parking

Free overflow parking on the South Frontage Road is allowed once both parking structures are full. Please refer to the variable message signs located at the Vail Town Center off ramps (exit 176) to make sure the overflow parking option has been officially activated. Once the Frontage Road has been released for overflow use, park on the I-70 (north) side of the roadway, leaving as much shoulder area as possible for your safety, avoid blocking driveways and leave plenty of space, as much as 50 feet, at intersections. Perimeters on the Frontage Road which prohibit parking will be clearly marked. During overflow situations, this parking is free and available until 11 p.m.

 

RV Parking

RVs and other over-size vehicles that do not fit in the parking structures can park in the Charter Bus Lot east of the Lionshead parking structure at 395 S. Frontage Road. There is a $25 charge for RVs and other oversize vehicles using this lot. Charter bus parking is free.

 

Oversize Vehicles

  • Vail Village: The height of the Vail Village parking structure entrance is 7’4.” Vehicles that are 7’4” or higher can park on the 4th level of the Vail Village parking structure or on the top level of the Lionshead parking structure. No overnight parking. Vehicles cannot exceed 19 feet in length.
  • Lionshead: The height of the Lionshead parking structure entrance is 7.’ Vehicles that are 7’ or higher can park on the top level of the Lionshead parking structure or on the 4th level of the Vail Village parking structure. No overnight parking. Vehicles cannot exceed 19 feet in length.

Electric Cars & Charging Stations

Free Charging Stations in Parking Garages.

To accommodate the growing interest in low/zero emissions vehicles, the town has equipped the parking structures with free charging stations. The six multi-port stations (five in Vail Village and one in Lionshead Village) accommodate the newest generation of electric, plug-in electric and electric extended range vehicles. Each location is able to serve two cars at a time with high speed charge. The stations will produce an 80 percent or more charge within the two-hour free parking time frame of the winter paid parking season. Parking in Vail this winter is easy and more convenient then ever with a variety of close-in and short-term parking options.

Use these tips to find the parking that's right for you:

 

Short-term Parking

Short-term parking is also available in the two structures. These spaces are easy to find and are perfect for short-term parking. The short-term parking spaces are located on the top deck of the Vail Village parking structure and on level one of the Lionshead parking structure. Cash and credit cards (Visa/ MasterCard) are accepted. The short-term parking option allows users to enter and exit the parking structures with ease. Available seven days a week.




Park Close All Day for $25 in Vail Village and Lionshead Structures

Approximately 2,500 close-in parking spaces are available at Vail's two parking garages. The parking spaces, 1,800 of them covered, allow skiers and snowboarders quick and easy access to Vail Mountain via the Gondola One ski lift in Vail Village, Eagle Bahn Gondola in Lionshead or Riva Bahn ski lift at Golden Peak. The $25 all day rate is good seven days a week for a 24-hour time period, which begins when entering the structure. Cash and credit cards (Visa/ MasterCard) are accepted.




Frontage Road Parking Availability

The Frontage Road will be used as overflow parking when all other lots are filled. Please refer to the variable message signs located at the main Vail off ramps (exit 176) to make sure the overflow parking option is legally available upon your arrival. A sign will be used at the park’s entrance to indicate availability each day. The parking area is serviced by the Matterhorn bus stop, which is located west of the park at the intersection of Matterhorn Circle and West Gore Creek Drive. The West Vail Red transit line services this bus stop to the Lionshead base area with service on the hour and half hour. Parking availability will be updated regularly on vaileventparking.com.



Convert Your Day-Trip to an Overnight Stay

Keep an eye on the weather while you're here and consider staying overnight if driving conditions are unsafe. Many of Vail's lodges offer discounted rates during Vail pass closures along I-70.
