The Planning and Environmental Commission (PEC) generally meets on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 1 p.m. in the Vail Municipal Building (75 S. Frontage Rd.), preceded by project orientation and site visits beginning at noon. This volunteer board is responsible for:
- making recommendations to the Town Council on proposed legislation, master planning documents and Special Development Districts
- reviewing and taking final action on variances from the technical requirements of the Zoning Regulations, Conditional Use Permits and Major Exterior Alterations in the core commercial areas.

Anyone interested in serving on the PEC must be a resident and registered voter in the Town of Vail.
