UPDATE: Work has been completed as of 3 p.m. On Tuesday, there will be a one-lane closure. Please plan accordingly and expect delays.
Spotters are being used today from Vail Transit to facilitate the Red and Green routes in West Vail as a result of the Dowd Junction rockfall mitigation traffic closures. Buses are being re-routed above and around the blockages. Motorists are advised to avoid West Vail frontage roads and access I-70 via 176 onramp.
West Vail Red Reroute
During I-70 traffic closures at Dowd Junction, West Vail Red will be rerouted as follows: up at Lower Buffehr Creek travel West on Chamonix Lane, all the way over Chamonix Lane down into the Chamonix bus stop. Turn around and return the same way only eastbound stopping at the Pine Ridge, Commons and Upper Buffehr Creek stops. At the Simba roundabout back track to Cascade Village then resume regular route to Vail Transportation Center.
West Vail Green Reroute
During I-70 traffic closures at Dowd Junction, West Vail Green will be rerouted as follows: Ptarmigan bus stop when traffic is backed up on the South Frontage Road, the bus will turn back and go east to the Simba roundabouts and back track to Timberidge and resume regular route. If there is time we have a driver that runs down into the Intermountain area to see if anybody is waiting at those stops.
