Annual Food Drive Underway

The annual Stock the Pantry Food Drive is taking place through Wednesday, Nov.  22 throughout Eagle County. The Food Drive will include collections from area schools on Friday, Nov. 17 and will culminate on Wednesday when representatives from the Vail Police Department, Eagle County Sheriff’s Office and other area law enforcement agencies join Colorado Mountain Express in collecting food.

Bring food, buy food or drop off cash or a check at the Vail Police Department, 75 S. Frontage Road in Vail. Non-perishable items such as canned goods, rice, beans, pasta, cereal and juices are suggested and needed. Participants are asked to refrain from donating items stored in glass containers, items with expired dates or homemade food items.

All food and cash contributions will be distributed locally to food pantries operated by the Salvation Army. For cash donations, make checks payable to “Town of Vail” with “Food Drive” in the memo line. A tax deductible letter will be mailed for each check

This is the 17th year for the annual food drive, which was initiated to commemorate national Make a Difference Day.

For more information or to volunteer to collect food at one of the locations, please contact Brian Flynn of the Vail Police Department at 970-479-2200 or email
