Get ready for Halloween fun! The Vail Recreation District will host the 25th Annual Trick or Treat Trot on Tuesday, Oct. 31. The Trick or Treat Trot is a great opportunity for kids (infants up to 10-year-olds, plus their families) to trick-or-treat through the streets of Vail from 2 to 5 p.m.

The Vail Town Clerk’s Office is reminding Vail voters that beginning Thursday, Oct. 26, through Friday, Nov. 3, early absentee voting for the Regular Municipal Election will be offered at the Vail Municipal Building, 75 S. Frontage Road between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Voters may also drop their absentee ballots to the town offices until 7 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 7.

Vail Police Chief Dwight Henninger was elected 4th Vice President of the International Association of Chiefs of Police at the IACP Annual Conference held in Philadelphia this week. Henninger will advance through to executive board positions, eventually becoming president in 2021-2022. Throughout his service on the IACP executive board, Henninger intends to continue to serve as Vail’s police chief. Town of Vail Street Superintendent Charlie Turnbull will be honored as Professional Manager of the Year by the Colorado Chapter of the American Public Works Association at its annual APWA Awards luncheon on Monday, Oct. 23 in Arvada. Recognition will also be given to Vail’s skatepark which has been selected to receive the outstanding Parks and Trails Project in the small community category.
The Gore Valley Trail between Dowd Junction and Intermountain will close from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, for sewer main maintenance. Eagle River Water & Sanitation District staff will conduct preventive maintenance on the sewer main along the recreation path.
