Vail Prepares for Distribution of Free Reusable Bags to Coincide with Launch of the Kick the Bag Habit Program
Distribution of free, custom-designed reusable bags is taking place to coincide with Saturday’s transition to a plastic grocery bag-free community in Vail. The Kick the Bag Habit reusable bags are available to residents and guests on a first come, first served basis, courtesy of the Town of Vail. Vail Kicks the Bag Habit Beginning Saturday, Aug. 1
Vail’s Kick the Bag Habit initiative will officially begin on Saturday, Aug. 1. That’s when single-use plastic bags will be eliminated at the two grocery stores; paper bags will be available for a 10-cent per bag fee for those who forget to bring their reusable bags. To help kick the bag habit, the town will be distributing free reusable bags to residents and guests. A bag share program also has been implemented.

Vail Street Slurry Seal Project Extends to July 25 Due to Rain

Note: Due to rain delay, the project has been extended by one day. The project started on Wednesday, July 22 and will continue through Saturday, July 25. Slurry seal creates a new wearing surface and seals the asphalt to prevent the damaging effects of water intrusion into the pavement. Vail Bag Share Program is Launched
With Vail’s plastic bag ban set to begin soon, the town is launching a bag share program to create more access to free reusable bags.  Do you have extra reusable bags that are cluttering up your home or car?  Do you need bags for your grocery store shopping and don’t want to buy new ones? The bag share will allow you to take a bag or leave a bag depending on your needs.

16th Annual Neighborhood Picnics Coming July 28 and Aug. 11
Mark your calendars for the Town of Vail’s 16th annual neighborhood picnic series Tuesday, July 28 at Bighorn Park in East Vail and Tuesday, Aug. 11 at Donovan Pavilion in West Vail. Each picnic will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. with free food and drink provided by the town on a first-come, first-served basis. The picnics provide residents an opportunity to offer comments and suggestions about various community topics and to meet members of the Vail Town Council and town staff.
