Last Community Picnic is Tuesday, Aug. 7 at Donovan Pavilion
The Town of Vail will host its remaining neighborhood picnic of the summer on Tuesday, Aug. 7 at Donovan Pavilion. The picnic will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. with free food and drink provided by the town as well as a children’s activity area sponsored by the Vail Recreation District.

Vail Prepares for Excitement of Men and Women’s Pro Cycling with Colorado Classic on Aug. 16 & 17; Neighborhood Logistics Finalized
The logistics required to host stages 1 and 2 of the Colorado Classic which will welcome thousands of cycling fans to Vail on Thursday, Aug. 16 and Friday, Aug. 17 have been finalized by the town’s police, fire and transportation departments. This includes route information, neighborhood road closures, overflow parking areas and transit re-routes between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on both days. Community Priorities, Service Level Ratings Identified in Town of Vail Survey
Environmental sustainability efforts and housing opportunities have been identified as high priorities for the Vail Town Council to consider in the coming months according to respondents who took part in the Town of Vail community survey which was circulated during the spring. The survey findings were presented to the Town Council on June 19 by the research firm RRC Associates which also included an overview of department and service ratings.

Vail Names Matt Gennett to fill Community Development Director Opening
Vail Town Manager Greg Clifton has announced the hiring of Matt Gennett as Community Development director. His first day on the job will be Aug. 29. Gennett has 19 years of municipal planning and management experience within the region. He has been the planning manager for the Town of Silverthorne since 2013 and has worked in a variety of other local planning roles, including previous employment with the Town of Vail from 2002 to 2006, where he was promoted to senior planner.
