Comments and suggestions from the 2015 Town of Vail neighborhood picnics have been compiled and are being evaluated by the Town Council and staff. Comments have been sorted into the categories of neighborhoods, enforcement, miscellaneous and compliments. The picnics were held on July 28 at Bighorn Park and on Aug.11 at Donovan Park and are used as a community outreach initiative to connect with residents and guests.

To decrease the risk of becoming the victim of a crime, the Vail Police Department offers buyers and sellers two safe zones in which to finalize transactions. At 2:07 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, Vail Public Safety Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call from a man reporting his wife was in labor. They were pulled over on the side of Interstate 70 at the Gypsum off-ramp, exit 140. The VPSCC dispatcher, Kelly Klein, assisted the caller, Eagle Police Chief Joey Staufer, in delivering his first child, a healthy baby girl, who arrived before the ambulance and fire truck.
A fire in a residence on Ptarmigan Road in the Golf Course neighborhood was quickly contained Monday night. At approximately 9:20 p.m. on Aug. 24, Vail Fire and Emergency Services was dispatched to investigate an odor in a residence at 1027 Ptarmigan Road. The odor was reported by the residents, who had just returned home.
Guided art walks hosted by Art in Public Places continue each Wednesday at 11 a.m. through Aug. 26. Meet at the Vail Village Welcome Center on the top level of the parking structure for this free guided tour of Vail Village and the public art collection.
Starting this week, the Town of Vail will resume its regular weekly construction meetings to review upcoming project schedules for the fall season. In addition, a second weekly meeting has been added to the schedule to discuss construction related to the Vail Golf and Nordic Clubhouse renovation. Both meetings will be facilitated by Leonard Sandoval, the town’s construction area coordinator.
