Nominating petitions will be available beginning Tuesday, Aug. 6 for candidates interested in running for one of four open seats on the Vail Town Council for the Regular Municipal Election in November. Vail Town Council Authorizes Housing Purchase for Resale to a Town Employee

The Vail Town Council, in its role as a housing leader and employer, has invested in a new home opportunity for one of the town’s employees. At its June 18 meeting, council members approved the purchase of a one-bedroom, one-bath 580 square foot home in the Homestake at Vail Condominiums, located at 1081 Vail View Drive. The home is being purchased for $325,000 with the town taking possession on July 10.

Holy Cross Energy Franchise Fee Increase Will Bury Overhead Power Lines in Vail
Holy Cross Energy members within Vail’s service area will see a small increase in their electric bills beginning this month which represents a one percent increase in the utility’s franchise fee to be collected by the Town of Vail. Vail Seeks Community Member to Fill Opening on Vail Local Licensing Authority

The Town of Vail is seeking a community member to fill a vacancy on the Town of Vail Local Licensing Authority. Applications for the vacancy are due to the town by 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 25. The Vail Town Council will conduct interviews during its afternoon session on Tuesday, July 2, with an appointment to follow at its evening meeting.

2018 Audit Finds Town of Vail in Strong Financial Position

The Town of Vail remains in a strong financial position according to results of the 2018 audit which was presented to the Town Council earlier this month by Michael Jenkins of McMahan and Associates. The report gave the town a "clean" opinion, which means the auditors believe the financial statements are presented fairly in all material respects.

Working in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service, the Vail Trail Host program is a new initiative that will provide helpful information and resources at busy East Vail trailheads in an effort to improve the overall guest experience and help lay the groundwork for future improvements.
