Skier Caught in Avalanche

From the Eagle County Sheriff's Office

On Thursday, March 5 at approximately 9 a.m. the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an avalanche on Pitkin Creek. The caller reported that 3 male skiers were on the mountain when the large avalanche was triggered and stated that one individual was trapped but alive and suffering from a broken leg.

The Town of Vail is seeking proposals for the production of reusable bags that will be used to promote the town’s “Kick the Bag Habit” following Town Council approval of an ordinance that incrementally bans the use of plastic bags in Vail. To assist in the transition, the town will be initiating an extensive outreach campaign that will include the distribution of thousands of reusable bags to residents and guests.
