Snowboard Theft Investigation

On Feb. 4, a snowboard theft was reported to the Vail Police Department from the area of Vail Road and Gore Creek Drive. The board was described as a 2015 Burton Skeleton key, valued at approximately $600. The bindings were black Mine 77 brand, valued at approximately $300. The individuals shown in these images may have information regarding the theft of this board.

Due to road conditions and increasing safety issues, the Town of Vail will be closing its non-essential offices at 3 p.m. today, Feb. 7. The Vail Public Library will remain open today until 6 p.m.

With nearly 30 inches of snowfall recorded at the Town of Vail public works facility within the last 24 hours and more on the way, the town’s snowplow drivers are doing all they can to keep the streets safe for travel, including clearing snow from intersections to improve visibility.

Reminder to Remove Snow Near Utility Meters

With the recent snowfall accumulation, Vail Fire & Emergency Services is asking property owners and maintenance personnel to be aware of the need to remove snow and ice accumulation from around gas meters and utility shut offs. Snow and Ice accumulation can cause damage to gas meters and valves potentially causing leaks and allowing for buildup of gas in confined spaces, basements and dwelling spaces. If you smell gas, evacuate your home and call 911.
