Gore Range Narcotics Interdiction Team Receives Task Force of the Year Award
The Gore Range Narcotics Interdiction Team has been named Task Force of the Year by the Colorado Drug Investigators Association for Region 1. The award was presented earlier this month to Eagle County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Dan Loya and Vail Police Department Cmdr. Craig Bettis by association President Aaron Sanchez.

Numerous studies conducted by the National Institute of Justice found that drugs and crime are interrelated. The NIJ has found that drug addicts have a stronger tendency to commit crimes. The award recognized the collaborative efforts of all law enforcement agencies throughout Eagle County, including the Eagle County Sherriff’s Office, Eagle Police Department, Avon Police Department and the Vail Police Department in making a local impact on felonious drug trafficking in the community as well as helping stem the tide of criminal offenses related to drug use.

GRANITE is composed of peace officers from the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office and the Vail Police Department in an effort to get dangerous drugs off the streets locally. If you have information related to illegal drug activity in your community, please contact GRANITE at 970-479-2201, you can remain anonymous.
