Last Community Picnic is Tuesday, Aug. 13 at Donovan Pavilion

The Town of Vail will host its remaining neighborhood picnic of the summer on Tuesday, Aug. 13 at Donovan Pavilion in West Vail. The picnic will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. with free food and drink provided by the town.

Joining the Town Council as hosts of this second picnic gathering will be staff from the Police, Library, Housing, Community Development and Administration departments as well as representatives from Vail Mountain. During the picnic, information on wildlife preparedness and emergency evacuation, housing programs for locals, plus candidate filing deadlines and voter registration details for the Town Council election in November will be available. Also, information on Vail Mountain's snowmaking enhancement project, updates on the Civic Area Master Plan and details about a new community potluck dinner coming in September, the Vail Social, will be provided. In addition, a drawing for 10 free emergency preparedness kits will take place from among entries collected at both picnics, plus information will be presented on the library’s children’s programs as well as a noxious weed display with information on how to manage invasive species.

Now in its 20th year, the picnic series provides residents an opportunity to offer comments and suggestions about community issues to members of the town staff and Vail Town Council. An earlier picnic at Bighorn Park drew hundreds of picnickers.  A recap of citizen comments and responses will be posted on the town’s website at vailgov.com following the event.

For more information, contact the town’s communications office at 970-479-2115.
