Local Fourth Grader Leads Halloween Candy Collection Drive to be Shipped to Service Members Around the World
Here’s a great way to repurpose your extra Halloween candy. Libbie Stanton, a fourth grader at Vail Mountain School, has again partnered with the Town of Vail to collect unused candy for the Soldier’s Angels Treats for Troops program, which ships donated candy to deployed service members around the world. Libbie, 9, says the program is a great use of those sweets to remind our troops that they’re not forgotten.

Drop off locations will be available Thursday, Nov. 1 through Sunday, Nov. 12 at the following locations: the Welcome Centers in Lionshead and Vail Village, Vail Public Library, Vail Municipal Building and new this year - Vail Mountain School.

This will be the third year for the local Treats for Troops collection. Last year, more than 600 pounds of candy was collected and delivered to the Veterans Service Center in Denver.

Thank you to Libbie for organizing this sweet way to honor our troops! For more information, contact Amanda Zinn at the Vail Welcome Centers at 970-477-3520.
