Motorcyclist Strikes Deer while Traveling on North Frontage Road in East Vail

A Lakewood man traveling by motorcycle in the 3600 block of the North Frontage Road near the East Vail interchange struck a deer at approximately 12:30 a.m. Monday, June 20. The crash was discovered by a taxi driver who immediately called 911 to report the incident. 

The male motorcyclist, identified as 54-year-old Gary George Stock, was breathing but unresponsive to arriving emergency workers. Stock was immediately transported to Vail Valley Medical Center by ambulance. Within thirty minutes of his arrival at VVMC, Stock was flown via helicopter to Denver Health. Stock’s condition remains severe, with major injuries to his head and torso.  Update: We are saddened to report that Stock has died of his injuries as of June 21.

The road was closed for approximately two hours while the Vail Police Department conducted an investigation. Stock was not wearing a helmet when the accident occurred. The deer did not survive.
