With the start of paid parking for the start of the 2016-17 ski and snowboard season, motorists are advised to take note of another parking-related matter. New parking fines in Vail have become effective.
Following passage of Ordinance No. 17, Series of 2016 by the Vail Town Council on Aug. 2, a new fine schedule has been enacted for all parking violations, public or private. This is the first increase to Vail’s parking fines since 2007.
The minimum fine has increased from $16 to $50 with repeat offenses within 12 months increasing to as much as $150, including all outlying areas. All tickets issued within the town limits will be subject to the following: $50 fine for the first offense, $75 for the second offense and $150 for the third offense. Handicap parking space violations have increased to a minimum $100 fine with an increase to as much as $200 for repeat violations.
