Pedestrian Critically Injured After Being Hit on Interstate 70 in Vail

A 23-year-old pedestrian is in critical condition at a Denver hospital after he was struck by a vehicle on Interstate 70 overnight. The incident occurred at approximately 1:45 a.m. Friday, March 4, in the eastbound lane near mile-marker 175 in Vail. 

According to police investigators, the pedestrian was on the roadway when he was struck by a Honda SUV traveling eastbound on the interstate. The driver and a passenger, Vail residents, stopped and called 911 to report the incident.

The victim is an Australian citizen visiting on a visa. He was transported to Vail Valley Medical Center and was subsequently flown to Denver for treatment of his injuries.
