The Town of Vail and other agencies in Eagle County have joined together to create a unified portal for regional emergency and public safety information. Located at www.ecemergency.org, the site will provide an outlet for real-time updates during events and incidents that involve multiple jurisdictions.
At its launch, the site will serve as the primary communication tool for safety and security information during the 2015 Alpine World Ski Championships, taking place Feb. 2 through Feb. 15. Visitors to the site can expect public safety announcements, bag check policy information and daily health and safety tips. To receive email alerts when new information is added, visit www.ecemergency.org, enter an email address in the “Receive Updates via Email” box, and complete the email subscription request instructions.
Other agencies contributing content to the site include the following among others:
- Eagle County
- Eagle County Sheriff
- Eagle River Fire Protection District
- Eagle River Water & Sanitation District
- Greater Eagle Fire Protection District
- Holy Cross Energy
- State of Colorado
- Town of Avon
- Town of Minturn
- Vail Mountain Rescue
- Vail Valley Medical Center
- White River National Forest
Residents and guests of the Eagle Valley are also encouraged to subscribe to EC Alert, Eagle County's real-time emergency alert system. The service is customizable and provides information on weather, road closures, utility outages and other emergency updates based on user preferences via text messages, or email, or both. Registration to EC Alert is free, although text messaging fees may apply based on individual cell phone plans. Visit www.ecalert.org to subscribe.
