Police investigators have recovered two bikes as part of its ongoing investigation into a string of recent bike thefts in Vail. Acting on a tip, the stolen property was recovered on Wednesday, July 10, at locations in Denver and Idaho Springs. These high-end bikes were reported stolen from the parking lot at City Market and Vail Das Schone in West Vail on June 25.
As a result of the investigation, Robin Clifton, 60, of Denver, will be charged with the thefts in West Vail. Clifton already faces charges of second degree burglary, two counts of felony theft and misdemeanor criminal mischief for the theft of two bikes from shops in Vail Village occurring on June 25. He was arrested on July 3 and was transferred to the Eagle County Detention Facility.
Five bikes have been reported stolen in Vail between June 24 and June 26. According to police, additional stolen property has been recovered in Westminster. Investigators are continuing to recover the remaining stolen property and return the bikes to their rightful owners.
