At approximately 12:05 a.m. April 10, an altercation occurred between two groups near the Vail Transportation Center, 241 S. Frontage Road East in Vail Village. The two groups had a verbal argument which escalated into a physical fight. Two individuals were assaulted and injured during the incident.
At approximately 2 a.m. Saturday, April 17, the Vail Police Department responded to a report of damaged property at the Vail Transportation Center, 241 S.Frontage Road East in Vail Village. When officers arrived, they found an exit gate detached from the mount sitting on the ground. Security footage shows a male walking through the parking structure, intentionally lifting the gate and breaking it from the mounting post. The subject then left the area and was not located.
Following a rigorous audit process in late 2020, Vail is celebrating the achievement of recertification as a Sustainable Destination under the Mountain IDEAL standard. This coveted achievement builds upon the initial certification in 2017 when Vail become the first Certified Sustainable Destination in the U.S.
Street sweeping operations will be getting underway in Vail beginning Monday, April 19 and will continue through June 11, weather permitting. Crews will be working eight hours each day, five days a week to complete the sweeping which includes curbside cinder pick up. Residents are asked to rake the cinders from their yards into the right-of-way and to call the public works department at 970-479-2158 when ready for pick up, then allow a few days for completion.

The Town of Vail has concluded its Grant Relief Program as of March 31, which provided direct aid to businesses experiencing hardship due to the public health crisis. Developed by representatives of the Vail Economic Advisory Council with assistance from town staff, the grant program was authorized by the Vail Town Council on Feb. 2 in the amount of $500,000 and offered Vail businesses grants ranging from $5,000 to $15,000.
