Town of Vail Seeks Applicants for Commission on Special Events and Vail Local Marketing District Advisory Council

The Town of Vail is seeking community members to fill vacancies on two citizen boards. Openings exist on the Vail Local Marketing District Advisory Council (VLMDAC) and the Vail Commission on Special Events (CSE). Applications for the vacancies are due to the town by 5 p.m. Nov. 22 for VLMDAC and 5 p.m. Dec. 6 for CSE.

The Vail Town Council will conduct interviews during its work session on Dec. 3 for VLMDAC applicants and on Dec. 17 for CSE applicants with appointments to follow at the regular meetings later in the day. Vail Local Marketing District Advisory Council (VLMDAC)
Four vacancies exist on the VLMDAC. The terms of the four members shall be for two years from Jan. 1, 2020 to Dec. 31, 2022. To qualify, applicants must be an owner of real property or taxable personal property in Vail. Corporations or entities that own property within the Town of Vail may forward a designee from their corporation or entity to be considered for the Advisory Council. The mission of the 9-member VLMDAC is to market and promote Vail to attract overnight guests primarily during non-winter season time frame, creating economic vitality by increasing both the visitor base and sales tax revenues. Meetings are currently held on the third Thursday of every month at 8:30 a.m.

Commission on Special Events (CSE)
Three vacancies exist on the CSE. Applicants must be a resident, property owner, business owner, or employee within the Town of Vail. The terms of the three members shall be for two years from Jan 1, 2020 to Dec. 31, 2022. Duties of the seven-member CSE include creating, funding and seeking special events for the Town of Vail; evaluating event applications and event success; submitting an annual budget for operations and events; coordinating the community calendar for special events; evaluating and executing contracts for special events; and all other functions as directed by the Town Council. The CSE typically meets in the morning on the first Wednesday of each month in the Vail Town Council Chambers.
