Mark Hoblitzell, formerly with the U.S. Forest Service and Vail Resorts, has joined the Town of Vail staff as Environmental Sustainability Coordinator following the promotion of Kristen Bertuglia to Environmental Sustainability Manager.
Hoblitzell will be responsible for continued outreach with the community recycling ordinance approved in 2014. He’ll also be involved with the “Kick the Bag Habit” program adopted by the Town Council in March and is working on an outreach program in preparation for the plastic bag ban in August. In addition, Hoblitzell will be visible at numerous community events including the town clean up day on May 15 and the E-Waste and Paper Shredding event on June 12. He’ll also help manage efforts to increase participation during the annual Sole Power Commuting Challenge supported by the town.
Hoblitzell has a passion for environmental stewardship and public lands and considers his new position a dream job in a dream location, “I am beyond excited to be here and spending my time contributing towards sustainability programs in a place I love,” he said.
