Based on the weather forecast for Monday, Sept. 25, the frontage road paving operations and related closures are being pushed back by one day. This means the North Frontage Road will be closed through the project site on Tuesday, Sept. 26, and the South Frontage Road will be closed through the project site on Wednesday, Sept. 27. This schedule remains weather dependent and may change based on the weather forecast. Here's the updated schedule:
During the week of Sept. 25, there will be a full daytime closure of the North Frontage Road and a full daytime closure of the South Frontage Road as part of the Colorado Department of Transportation and Town of Vail’s I-70 Vail Underpass project. These full closures, which will occur only through the project site, will take place on separate days. During these closures, motorists are advised to use I-70 as an alternate route.
The North Frontage Road will be closed through the project site from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 26. The South Frontage Road will be closed through the project site from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 27. These single day frontage road closures will allow crews to complete final frontage road paving work. This schedule is weather dependent and may change if inclement or cold temperatures are in the forecast.
While there will be full closures through the project site, frontage roads businesses and properties will remain accessible.
The I-70 Vail Underpass project is progressing on schedule and on budget. The frontage road paving work scheduled to occur next week signifies a push toward project completion, expected for the end of October.

The I-70 Vail Underpass project will add an additional underpass near I-70 mile point 175, connecting the North and South Frontage Roads between the Vail Town Center and West Vail interchanges. The project does not construct additional I-70 exits/interchanges into the Town of Vail. The project is scheduled for completion by fall of 2017.
