Vail Seeks Artists for Public Art Installation

The Town of Vail Environmental Sustainability Team invites artists to submit their qualifications and images of previous art work to include painting, pastel or drawing for consideration in the town-wide program to educate the public about storm drains and promote the health of Gore Creek.

The selected artists will be commissioned to create an original and specific work depicting one of five Colorado wildlife species that live in or near Gore Creek, such as cutthroat trout, yellow warbler, moose, American dipper, black bear, American beaver or other species at the artists’ suggestion. The images will be digitally transferred to a slip-resistant decal which will be adhered in proximity to selected storm drains throughout the town of Vail. Selected artists will receive a $500 stipend.

Interested artists must submit a letter of interest indicating their vision and approach for the project (limit one page), examples of previous paintings, pastels or drawings (10 images maximum) and an annotated image list to accompany any submitted images. Submissions are due Friday, March 22.

Visit for details or contact Pete Wadden, watershed education coordinator, at or call 970-479-2144.
