Vail Special Events Commission Accepting Applications for 2017 Special Events Funding of $10,000

The Town of Vail Commission on Special Events (CSE) is currently accepting additional funding requests from special event producers for a total allocation of up to $10,000 for new or enhanced Recreational, Cultural and Community category events occurring in Vail for the remainder of 2017. The RFP is available online or at the Vail Municipal Building, 75 S. Frontage Road.

The Town of Vail has consistently been a leader in delivering a world-class calendar of events which grows partner brands, generates revenues and supports causes from locally to globally. The Commission on Special Events is seeking innovative and exciting proposals for special events throughout 2017 that support the collective vision of Vail as the world’s “Premier International Mountain Resort Community.”

The $10,000 special event funding is available due to a previously funded event cancellation in 2017. The CSE has re-opened the RFP process to allocate the remaining funding. This is in addition to $827,290 that has previously been allocated by the CSE to 30 Recreational, Cultural and Community category events this calendar year. While all submittals are reviewed with a strong eye as to how well they support the Vail brand, the Recreational, Cultural and Community event category is measured primarily with respect to how well the event will drive destination visitation. Event producers are encouraged to tailor their response with the event criteria and scorecard in mind.

The CSE, utilizing research results provided by the Vail Local Marketing District and RRC Associates, has developed special event rating criteria that will be used to evaluate all proposals with respect to how they align with a strategic approach to providing a diverse calendar of events which are well matched to the Vail brand and that exceed the expectations of a sophisticated and international clientele.

Event funding applications are due no later than 4 p.m. MST Monday, April 17. Qualifying applications will be reviewed and final funding allocations determined by the CSE at their regular meeting on Wednesday, May 3.
