Crews hired by the Town of Vail will begin an annual street maintenance project beginning Monday, June 3. The slurry seal work will be taking place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Wednesday, June 5, as weather conditions permit. Slurry seal creates a new wearing surface and seals the asphalt to prevent the damaging effects of water intrusion into the pavement. Roads will be treated one lane at a time to allow for single-lane traffic to be maintained at all times; however, motorists should expect delays. Traffic will be allowed to return to the new surface after it dries, typically after two hours.
The following roads are scheduled to receive the slurry treatment this year:
- Buffehr Creek Road
- Lions Ridge Loop
- Sunburst Drive
- Vail Valley Drive from South Frontage Road to Ptarmigan Road
The project contractor is A-1 Chipseal Company of Denver. For more information, contact Town of Vail project engineer Chad Salli at 970-76-2389 or A-1 Chipseal at 303-464-9267
