The Vail Valley Foundation is seeking volunteers to assist as course marshals and in other capacities during the Colorado Classic pro cycling races coming to Vail on Thursday, Aug. 16 and Friday, Aug. 17.
The event will bring more than 150 of the world’s top pro men’s and women cyclists to Vail during Stages 1 and 2. The remainder of the race, Stages 3 and 4, will be taking place in Denver.
Stage 1 on Aug. 16 is a circuit race looping through Vail Village, the Golf Course area and the south side of West Vail, while Stage 2 on Aug. 17 is the time-trial course that climbs from the heart of Vail Village and finishes on Vail Pass near the 10,000-foot summit. Both races will start in Mountain Plaza near Gondola One in Val Village.
More than 300 volunteers a day are needed to assist with the race. Those who work both days will receive a complimentary commemorative jersey in appreciation of their help. Additional information will be presented during a volunteer training at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15 at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater.
