Vail I-70 Underpass

With the re-opening of the frontage roads for two-way traffic, the project has entered a slowdown for the winter season. Over the last eight months, I-70 and the North and South Frontage Roads have been completely transformed. In Phase 1, both the westbound and eastbound underpass bridges were constructed in just 13 weeks. In Phase 2, the focus turned toward the frontage roads, with an estimated 70,000 cubic yards of earth excavated to lower the roads 15 feet, and ten different utility lines relocated, totaling 23,000 linear feet. However, there is still plenty more work to complete. The project will gear up again in April 2017. Thank you for your patience and understanding during construction of the first two phases.

Vail Police: Be Bear Aware

The Vail Police Department is reminding contractors to be mindful about bears and other wildlife. Construction sites are required to use bear-proof containers. Be sure to remove all food items from vehicles and keep them locked. Report all bear activity by calling the police department at 970-479-2201.
