Construction Update Meetings
The Construction meetings have been canceled until further notice. Contractors working in the areas of the Vail Village and Lionshead core areas will continue to communicate to the Public Works Department, providing updates and coordinating projects as it relates to construction activity within the right of way. I-70 Vail East to West Resurfacing Project
CDOT and contract partner Elam Construction have begun a resurfacing project on I-70 from mile marker 172 to 187 through Vail. The project has an anticipated completion date of October 2020. COVID-19 Related Announcements
The Vail Village and Lionshead parking structures are open with free daily and overnight parking. Vail Transit is operational with the spring schedule. Town of Vail offices are open for in-person services by appointment as of June 1. For an update on Town of Vail plan review, permits, building inspections and other services, visit www.vailgov.com. On-street construction parking permits are now available, with conditions. Please submit a Right of Way Use Permit and site plan to firstname.lastname@example.org for approval.
Online Citizen Portal
Customers of the Community Development Department have access to a 24/7 online citizen portal to submit applications for contractor registration and various construction-related permits. The portal, at http://vail.onlinegovt.com/ also accepts planning applications for review by the Design Review Board and Planning and Environmental Commission. In addition, residents can access the citizen portal to submit a code enforcement request or check to see the status of any permit activity in their neighborhood. La Taberna Iberica Patio, 100 E. Meadow Drive Unit 15
Includes excavation and construction for new site wall and foundation stem walls. The purpose of the construction is to create a new patio dining area. Construction fencing will be erected to enclose the perimeter of the work area. Project start date was May 18; completion of work is mid-August. Sewer line Repair, 100 E. Meadow Drive
Includes excavation to repair a collapsed sewer line at the west exposure of Vail Village Inn Plaza (phase two) adjacent to the Grappa Liquor Store located at 100 E Meadow Dr. The existing 6” sewer line has developed a saddle creating blockages. Construction fencing has been erected to provide access to businesses and residences in the affected area. ADA access is provided via the Sebastian Hotel parking to the north. Start date was May 18, completion date is scheduled for June 26. Contractor is Rocky Mountain Construction Group, Jonny Cohen, 970-471-9258. Excavating Contractor is Ewing Trucking and Excavation.
Vail Village Parking Structure
Restruction Corporation has begun structural repairs in the Village Parking Structure. There will be closures in multiple areas. For the safety of the public and the construction crew, please respect all closed areas. This work will be ongoing for several months. Town of Vail contact is John King, 970-376-0949.
New Proposed Utility Projects
Holy Cross Energy, Main Vail Roundabout at the Four Seasons Hotel. Work requires excavation and the installation of two new switchgears. Completion date is June 26. Contractor is Holy Cross Energy. Town of Vail contact is Leonard Sandoval, 970-390-4677.
Xcel Energy, Mill Creek Circle. Xcel Energy will be replacing approximately 900 lineal feet of steel gas main line that is damaged. Start date is TBD. Contractor is Sitewise Corp.
Remodel, New Art Gallery, 100 E. Meadow Dr. Unit 12
Remodel of existing space to include new storefront with ADA accessible access and interior improvements. Start date was Dec. 1; proposed completion date is early July. Contractor is Nedbo Construction, Evan Gould, 970-977-0330. Town of Vail contact is Leonard Sandoval, 970-390-4677.
Mountain View Residence Phase II, 434 South Frontage Road East
Work is currently contained within the construction fence. Construction activity includes interior and exterior framing, plumbing and fire sprinkler installation. Slifer Square Water Feature Replacement
BrightView Land Development has resumed work on the Slifer Square Fountain. The work includes completion of the landscaping, irrigation, minor stone work and fountain controls. Vail Health Master Facility Plan, 180 S. Frontage Road
Drywall deliveries and concrete pours are scheduled on West Meadow Drive. Traffic and pedestrian control will be provided. Please exercise caution along South Frontage Road and West Meadow Drive. Phase II of the Master Facility Plan includes the tear-down and replacement of the current east wing administration building and garage, replacing it with a new parking garage and hospital building to house new emergency and imaging departments, as well as a new lobby, central plant, tenant space and material management department. All hospital services will remain open and fully functional throughout the construction. To access the Emergency Department, use Vail Road/West Meadow Drive. Hospital patients and visitors should park (valet parking only, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.) in the hospital parking lot on West Meadow Drive. Patients and guests of the Medical Professional Building should park (valet parking, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) in the underground parking lot of the Medical Professional Building accessible by West Meadow Drive. Single lane closures are scheduled for deliveries throughout the summer months; pending public way permit approval, traffic control will be provided. Construction activity will be contained within property boundaries and construction fencing. Project consists of an interior and exterior remodel. Completion date is summer 2020. Row House Units 11, 303 Gore Creek Drive
Single lane closures are scheduled for deliveries throughout the summer months; pending public way permit approval, traffic control will be provided. Stephens Park Play Area Renovation
RA Nelson will be performing work to renovate the children’s play area at Stephens Park in the Intermountain Neighborhood. The play area will be fully closed during the work; however, all other park facilities will remain open. Construction access will be along the gravel road from Kinnikinnick Road. This project will include an asphalt overlay, maintenance repairs to several bridge-decks and installing guardrail that meet the new safety standard requirements. Additional work includes rumble strip installation, striping, drainage improvements, sign installation and erosion control. Motorists can expect east and westbound single lane closures, 10-15 minute delays and minor detours on the bike path.
