What does the 1994 Comprehensive Open Lands Plan say about the land transfers with the U.S. Forest Service?
The 1994 Comprehensive Open Lands Plan very specifically identified certain lands that were to be acquired from the USFS (e.g. Booth Creek trailhead) and others that were to be conveyed to the USFS (e.g. Trappers Run parcels). Subsequent to the adoption of the plan, an exchange agreement was crafted and approved between the Town of Vail and the USFS which facilitated the transfer of many of the lands identified as suitable for such action.
