Town of Vail Buildings to Begin Phased Reopening to the Public June 1 with Required Safety Protocols

Limited public access to the Vail Municipal building, Vail Public Library and other town offices and facilities will be available beginning Monday, June 1 as part of a phased plan to provide restricted in-person services to customers and guests. The transition will require members of the public and employees to wear face coverings and adhere to social distancing as well as occupancy requirements when conducting business in the buildings.

Vail Clarifies Regulations Related to Consumption of Alcohol in Public Places

The target date to begin allowing consumption of alcohol in public places in Vail has been set for May 29 following Town Council approval of an emergency ordinance that authorizes the Town Manager to establish such locations. Until then, the Vail Police Department is reminding guests and residents that public consumption of alcohol in Vail remains prohibited. This includes consumption of alcohol on any street, alley, sidewalk, public building or parking lot in the town, or within any vehicle in those areas per Town Code 6-3C-4.

Vail Prepares for Sustained Social Distancing

In anticipation of a new public health order from Eagle County that will become effective in the coming days, the Town of Vail is preparing for the next phase of sustainable social distancing that will incrementally return a number of municipal services following a shut-down caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. In an update to the Town Council Tuesday, an overview of existing and upcoming services was provided by Town Manager Scott Robson.

The Town of Vail has taken immediate measures to implement the Standing Public Health Order Related to Events, Bars and Restaurants issued by Eagle County Department of Health & Environment and recommendations from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus in our community. We have adjusted our protocols to emphasize social distancing practices in our day-to-day municipal operations and have canceled public gatherings according to the standing order. We ask that you conduct business with the Town of Vail via phone and/or online services. Look for Vail Transit to return operations Monday, May 5. Take Part in Vail’s Community Survey and Share Ideas on COVID-19 Response

There’s still time to take part in the Town of Vail community survey which will help the town gather critical information in its response to the COVID-19 virus, among other topics. New questions have been added to learn what the town can do to support the community during the COVID-19 public health crisis. The survey also includes questions used to evaluate municipal service levels and to identify community priorities. Residents, property owners, business owners, employees and others impacted by the town are encouraged to participate. The survey is available in two formats: online at www.vailcommunitysurvey.org/open or in a paper format that can be mailed upon request by calling 970-479-2115 or emailing info@vailgov.com. However, if you received a postcard invitation to take part, please use the login address and passcode on the card to help ensure the survey is statistically valid.
