Area Hiking Info Made Easy with Launch of HikeVail.net in Collaboration with U.S. Forest Service and Town of Vail
A new hiking website has been launched in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service and the Town of Vail to make it easy to access information about area trails, including tips on how to enjoy the most popular trails as well as alternative hikes to avoid crowding. Creation of HikeVail.net is one of several actions resulting from an ongoing study between the town, White River National Forest and community representatives to address overcrowding issues at the trailheads in East Vail that lead directly into the Eagles Nest Wilderness.

Volunteers Needed to Assist with Intercept Surveys at East Vail Trailheads
The Town of Vail and U.S. Forest Service are seeking community volunteers to help field an intercept survey that will be used to probe access, crowding and other topics related to the hiking experience on five heavily-used trails in East Vail. These popular trails - Booth Lake, Gore Creek, Deluge Lake, Pitkin Creek and Bighorn Creek - are used to access the Eagles Nest Wilderness.

Vail’s summer season is in full swing and that means more activity on the recreation trails throughout town. This includes use of electric-assisted bikes and authorized group Segway tours.Town regulations allow class 1 and class 2 e-bikes and guided Segway tours on the paved recreation trails in Vail.

Town of Vail to Sponsor Annual Neighborhood Picnics July 23 and Aug. 13
Mark your calendars for the Town of Vail’s annual Celebrating Community neighborhood picnic series Tuesday, July 23 at Bighorn Park in East Vail and Tuesday, Aug. 13 at Donovan Pavilion in West Vail. Each picnic will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. with free food and drink provided by the town on a first-come, first-served basis. The picnics provide community members with an opportunity to offer comments and suggestions about various topics and to meet members of the Vail Town Council and town staff.
