Economic Development Manager Named Tourism Professional of the Year
Kelli McDonald, economic development manager for the Town of Vail, has been named Tourism Professional of the Year by the Vail Valley Partnership. McDonald received the recognition during the VVP’s 12th Annual Success Awards on May 15. McDonald has worked for the town since 2007 and has been responsible for leading the town’s marketing and special events initiatives which has resulted in record visitation and sales tax revenues in 2014.

Vail America Days™ Fourth of July Parade Registration Now Open, Entries Due by June 22
Entries for Vail’s annual Fourth of July parade are currently being accepted by event organizers and are due by 5 p.m. June 22. The 2015 parade will start at Golden Peak at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 4 and will wind its way through Vail Village, ending in Lionshead. The theme for the parade is “Celebrate the USA! Great Moments in American History” providing guests and participants with the opportunity to celebrate the wide variety of historical moments throughout America as well as in the Vail Valley.

Ford Park Summer Managed Parking Recommendation to be Reviewed by Town Council Tuesday, April 7

A recommendation for incremental improvements to the managed summer parking program at Ford Park will be presented to the Vail Town Council during its regular evening session on Tuesday, April 7. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the Vail Town Council Chambers with opportunities for public comment. The item is listed fifth on the meeting agenda.

US Open Returns to Vail March 2-7

The Burton US Open Snowboarding Championships presented by MINI are returning to Vail Mountain, March 2-7. The world's best will be competing at Golden Peak for the title in Halfpipe and Slopestyle. 

Special Events Funding

Twenty-eight events are receiving support from the Town of Vail in 2015 following allocations of $850,000 by the Commission on Special Events and approved by the Town Council. The funding comes both from monies collected from business license fees that are paid annually by Vail businesses and the Town of Vail general fund.
