Vail – The Most Open Terrain in Colorado!

Enjoy an Epic Holiday Season in Vail

Following nearly 30 inches of snow in the past week and over 110 inches of snow so far this season, Vail is excited to have the most open terrain in Colorado! Skiers and riders currently have access to over 4,400 acres of terrain including the Legendary Back Bowls. Let the magic unfold on and off the mountain!

Vail Après

Listen for the ringing of the bells throughout the villages and join in on the après ski fun.

Vail Winterfest

Dec. 20 - 22  | 

Celebrate the celestial wonders through the integration of ice, snow and light with Art in Public Places. Includes technology-infused LED lighting along the Gore Creek Promenade in Vail Village, illuminated ice installation reminiscent of stargazing around a campfire and the return of a family favorite – paper lantern workshops and the popular Holiday Lantern Walk on Sunday, Dec. 22. Children must be accompanied by adults at all events. The Vail Winterfest is generously sponsored in partnership with Doe Browning.

Cocktails & Canvas: Lantern Painting with Alpine Arts Center |  $10
4:30–6:30 p.m. Vail Recreation District Community Programming – 2nd Floor Lionshead Welcome Center
Alpine Arts Center will instruct participants how to paint paper lanterns. This lively evening will include holiday music, complimentary light snacks, and wine and beer available for purchase 21 + years old. Join to create your unique lantern to bring to the Holiday Lantern Walk on Sunday, Dec. 22.

Create your lantern at a free workshop with Alpine Arts Center in the Community Room at the Vail Public Library. Allow yourself 30 minutes at this drop-in workshop to create your lantern. Last entry is at 3 p.m. Following the workshop, join us for the Holiday Lantern Walk through Vail Village. Please note this is a new style lantern making workshop and appropriate for all ages and abilities!

    Easy Access


    Parking & Transit Options
    From free buses to free parking – and most everything in between – transportation options are plentiful this time of year. Parking is free in the Vail Village and Lionshead parking structures for the first 2 hours and free upon entry after 3 p.m. Also, discount parking passes are available for residents, employees and property owners. Please check the website for discount qualifications. Vail also operates one of the largest free transit systems in the country and comes highly recommended for its convenience and efficiency.  


    New Terminal at EGE
    The Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE) is celebrating completion of a $35 million renovation and de-icing pad installation project. The new terminal is 25,000 square feet larger, has more seating and charging stations, boasts a larger concessions and bar area, new escalators and elevators, a beautiful fireplace, a common use gate system for flexible airline operations, and uninterrupted views of the runways and mountains. The airport now services 14 different cities nonstop daily during the winter months.
