Due to the ever-changing landscape and continuing challenges due to the pandemic, the Town of Vail is now piloting a Remote Video Inspection program. No on street parking or construction staging is allowed during the winter months as of Nov. 16. All contractors must remove or relocate any construction related items from the town right of way, 10 ft. away from the edge of asphalt. Contractors, please revisit erosion control and construction fencing and make any necessary repairs. Paid parking in the Vail Village and Lionshead Village parking structures has begun effective Nov. 20.
The construction meetings have been canceled until further notice. Contractors working in the areas of the Vail Village and Lionhead core areas will continue to communicate to the Public Works Department, providing updates and coordinating projects as it relates to construction activity within the right of way. Vail Transit is operational with the early winter schedule; face masks are required for drivers and all passengers and capacity is being limited to the extent possible. Customers of the Community Development Department have access to a 24/7 online citizen portal to submit applications for contractor registration and various construction-related permits. The portal, at http://vail.onlinegovt.com/ also accepts planning applications for review by the Design Review Board and Planning and Environmental Commission. In addition, residents can access the citizen portal to submit a code enforcement request or check to see the status of any permit activity in their neighborhood. Here’s a recap of the various construction projects currently ongoing in Vail.
La Taberna Iberica Patio, 100 E. Meadow Drive Unit 15
Includes excavation and construction for new site wall and foundation stem walls. The purpose of the construction is to create a new patio dining area. Construction fencing has been erected to enclose the perimeter of the work area. Project start date was May 18; completion of work is end of December. Xcel Energy, Mill Creek Circle
Work is completed. Full mill and asphalt overlay is scheduled for spring 2021. Xcel Energy has contracted with Sitewise Corp to install a new main gas line between the properties of 304 Mill Creek and 345 Mill Creek Circle. Mountain View Residence Phase II, 434 South Frontage Road East
Sidewalk improvements within the right of way are complete for the fall season. Remaining improvements will be completed in the spring/summer of 2021. Work consists of a new heated walkway, interior and exterior framing, plumbing and fire sprinkler installation. The north side of the parking garage within the construction fence area is the staging area for trucks and material deliveries. General contractor is Shaw Builders LLC. Jim Heid, 970-904-5669. Vail Health Master Facility Plan, 180 S. Frontage Road
Vail Health has received a TCO (Temporary Certificate of Occupancy). The new main entrance to the hospital is now open, which is located along the S. Frontage Road across the street from the Vail Municipal Building. Temporary signage has been installed at the Main Vail exit, South Roundabout directing vehicle traffic to the Vail Health facility. Hospital patients and visitors should now park in the new parking structure. Phase II of the Master Facility Plan included the tear-down and replacement of the current east wing administration building and garage, replacing it with a new parking garage and hospital building to house new emergency and imaging departments, as well as a new lobby, central plant, tenant space and material management department. Patients and guests of the Medical Professional Building should park (valet parking available, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) in the underground parking lot of the Medical Professional Building. Row House Units 9 & 10, 303 Gore Creek Drive
Single lane closures are scheduled for deliveries throughout the fall and early winter months; pending public way permit approval, traffic control will be provided. Construction activity will be contained within property boundaries and construction fencing. Project consists of an interior and exterior remodel. Completion date is early January 2021. Row House Units 11, 303 Gore Creek Drive
Single lane closures are scheduled for deliveries throughout the fall and winter months; pending public way permit approval. Traffic control will be provided. Project consists of an interior/exterior remodel and addition. Project completion date has yet TBD. Contractor is SRE Building Associates, Casey Brune, 970-376-5568. There are no major construction projects in Lionshead.
Xcel Energy, Bighorn Road

Xcel Energy, Juniper Lane
This project will be delayed until spring 2021. Xcel Energy has contracted with Sitewise Corp. to excavate and install a new gas main on Juniper Lane from the intersection of Meadow Drive/Juniper Lane to the intersection of Main Gore Drive/Juniper Lane.
