What a Difference a Year Makes!
The snowfall has been a welcome sight this season. Vail Mountain has recorded 110 inches while measurements in Vail Village have totaled 63 inches compared to 20 inches this time last year. To ensure greater early season consistency, the U.S. Forest Service is reviewing a proposal for a snowmaking project on Vail Mountain. The proposal includes 262 acres of new snowmaking coverage, 32.5 miles of new snowmaking pipeline and 14 new valve stations. The goal is to enhance the reliability and consistency of the skiing surface for high-use areas, critical circulation routes and areas with high wind and solar exposure. The proposal is currently in the review process with a record of decision anticipated in spring of 2019.
Parking & Transit Options
From free buses to free parking – and most everything in between – transportation options are plentiful this time of year. Parking is free in the Vail Village and Lionshead parking structures for the first 2 hours and free upon entry after 3 p.m. Also, discount parking passes are available for residents, employees and property owners. Please check the website for discount qualifications. Vail also operates one of the largest free transit systems in the country and comes highly recommended for its convenience and efficiency.
EGE Winter Air Service
