Overnight Parking in Vail will Remain Free for the Summer

Overnight public parking in Vail will remain free throughout the summer as the town continues to scale its operations to adjust to the public health crisis. Vehicles may remain parked in the Vail Village and Lionshead garages for up to 72 hours, as well as the Red Sandstone garage on the North Frontage Road. Paid overnight parking was implemented during the 2018 summer season to increase available parking spaces during the day. However, due to the pandemic, the town is adjusting its operations to reflect a decrease in parking demand and reductions in seasonal staffing.

COVID-19 Alert: Town of Vail to Suspend Paid Parking in Structures to Coincide with Vail Mountain Closure

The Town of Vail will suspend paid parking in the Vail Village and Lionshead parking structures effective at 6 p.m. today, March 14, to coincide with the pending suspension of operations on Vail Mountain. Daily and overnight parking will remain free in the structures until further notice.

Red Sandstone Parking Garage to Accept Value Cards on Specified Levels for Remainder of Ski Season
The Town of Vail will be accepting Value cards as payment for access to the Red Sandstone parking garage on specified levels for the remainder of the winter season. The cards were initially activated for use during the holiday season extending through Sunday, Jan. 5 on levels 3 and 4. Beginning Monday, Jan. 6, the cards will be accepted for access to covered public parking on level 3 Monday through Friday and levels 3 and 4 on weekends. The garage is located at 559 N. Frontage Road. Additional restrictions may be required to acccomodate functions at the school.

New Parking Garage at Red Sandstone to Accept Value Cards on Levels 3 & 4 During Holiday Season
Additional parking locations will be available in Vail during the holiday season for Value card holders. The Red Sandstone parking garage at 559 N. Frontage Road will accept Value cards for payment on levels 3 and 4 beginning Saturday, Dec. 21 and extending through Sunday, Jan. 5. This availability has been created by the closure of Red Sandstone Elementary School for the holidays.

Parking Lot at Ford Park to Close to Accommodate Vail Snow Days Concerts
Beginning at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11 through 6 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, the Ford Park parking lot will be closed to accommodate the Vail Snow Days concerts. Parking options for Pink parking pass holders include the soccer field, plus free spaces along the Frontage Road in West Vail as well as Donovan Park except for Dec. 14.

PrimaVail Hosts All-Employee Season Kick-off Party Nov. 20 at Donovan Pavilion
PrimaVail, the guest service collaborative supported by the Town of Vail, Vail Mountain and the Vail Chamber & Business Association, is hosting a kick-off party to celebrate the start of the new ski season and is inviting employees from across the community to join in the festivities. The gathering takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20 at Donovan Pavilion. Admission is free and anyone who works in Vail is invited to stop by.

Paid Parking, Increased Bus Service Begin Friday, Nov. 15 in Vail

Paid parking in Vail’s public parking structures and outlying lots will begin at 6 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15 to coincide with the opening of Vail Mountain. Parking passes will be available for purchase from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday through Friday throughout the season, with the exception of Thanksgiving and other holidays, on the lower level of the Vail Municipal Building, 75 S. Frontage Road. Bring proof of eligibility as restrictions apply.

Free Overnight Parking Returns to Vail Village, Lionshead Structures Sunday, Oct. 6
Free overnight parking will be available in the Vail Village and Lionshead structures beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6 and extending to the start of the ski season which is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 15. The $25 overnight fee has been in place since Memorial Day weekend and was implemented for a second season this summer to discourage overnight vehicle storage.

Free public parking returns to the Vail Village and Lionshead parking structures beginning at 6 a.m. Monday, April 22. This includes free overnight parking until May 24 when a $25 fee will be implemented for the second season to discourage vehicle storage.

Parking Reminder for Vail Parking Pass Holders
An end of season reminder is being issued by the Town of Vail to all parking pass holders. Following the last day of paid winter parking on Sunday, April 21, most parking pass types will be enabled for use during the 2019 summer season, which will run Memorial Day weekend through Oct. 7. This includes Red, Green, Blue, Silver and Gold passes as well as the Value card.

Parking options for all Pink parking pass holders will include use of the soccer field during the closure, plus free outlying parking in West Vail and on selected days at Donovan Park. The Vail Town Council will review recommendations for the 2019 summer parking program during its evening meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 19. The action item is listed as 7.1 on the meeting agenda which begins at 6 p.m. in the Town Council Chambers with opportunities for public comment.
