Town of Vail Looks to Update Sign Code with Input from Business Community

The Town of Vail Community Development Department will soon be seeking input from the business community on an update to the Sign Code in Title 11 of the Vail Town Code. Changes are needed to address removal of content-related requirements as a result of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Reed vs Town of Gilbert. The scope of the update is not intended to include increasing sizes, locations or manner of display, but will address the way certain signs are regulated and classified. As envisioned, the code update will not require businesses to change how they currently use signage but may allow for more opportunity to creatively display information on the signage allowed.

The town will host an online public stakeholder meeting the weeks of Sept. 21 and Sept. 28. Please visit the EngageVail.com site for information on this project and to provide your comments.
